EBook reader / display settings
You can have the ebook to open in full screen, or with a specified size and position. You may *force* the ebook to open in full screen, this means that it won't be possible to minimize the ebook. You can force the page title to be shown on the title bar ("on top bar, show page title only"). You may hide the main menu, the toolbars, the top bar. If you hide everything, just the ebook content will be shown: in this case, it is recommended to insert an
exit or close link (this can be done with
special links).
In this tab you can set also other things about passwords, user data, expiry.
Ask user name/email and send through script: At the first run, you can force the ebook to ask the end user his/her name/email; if she/he agrees, this data can be sent to you through email or through a script (this way you can track your end users, create newsletters, etc.).
Nowadays it is quite complicated to send this by email. The "script" option has to be preferred.
If a script, place a check mark on the checkbox that enables the feature and in the box you specify what the script URL is (this is called "script path"), it could be a Perl script, e.g.
http://www.yoursite.com/scripts/intelligentprogram.pl
When a user opens your ebook, then the internal ebook software will call your URL by adding the end user data. Let's suppose Bill Park billxxyy@gmail.com is the user, here the URL that will be called:
http://www.yoursite.com/scripts/intelligentprogram.pl?first=Bill;&last=Park;&email=billxxyy@gmail.com
The script (the program "intelligentprogram.pl" on your server) will "receive" this call, and can do whatever it wants with the user's data; for a Perl script like this, the data are normally available in the QUERY_STRING variable. Also PHP can be used.
For this, you need to know Perl or PHP programming, or you need an expert.
Show "ask pass" button: within the small dialog that prompts for name and email, you can show a “Ask pass” button. When the end user presses this button his/her email client will automatically prepare an email with the user data (then the end user may send the email to you)
Don't store passwords: You can make the ebook ask the password(s) every time it is run.
Custom expiry message: When the ebook is expired, you can show a custom message to the end user, and/or you can show a web page (say a page in your web site when you show a newer version, try to sell, etc.) to the end user. The action performed by the ebook depends on how you fill the box "Custom expiry message".
